“It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live.” – J K Rowling
So you’ve stumbled across my humble blog and thought you’d have a nosey at the girl who’s ramblings you’ve been reading?
I am from a small town in the centre of England but since leaving for New Zealand in April 2014, I’ve only stayed there for a month.
After meeting a guy at a leaving party for our mutual friend, I was left devastated when he left me for a new life in NZ and whilst he was flying over the U.S, I was convincing my parents to lend me the 600 quid to fly after him. Without them knowing anything about him. When I’d moved home three months earlier due to an awful break-up that left me feeling bereft.
They always knew I’d wanted to travel so to convince them I hadn’t completely lost the plot, I told them he was living in Auckland and I was going to Queenstown so ‘Of course I’m not going for a boy- duh!’
Two months later, I was there. We’d only met three times before and he came down to Queenstown after two weeks. Two weeks after that, we moved in together. Three years later, we’re engaged.
Since then we’ve travelled across New Zealand and parts of South East Asia, moved ‘home’, found jobs and a house in a new city, explored the UK and was desperate to leave again.
We have the travel bug, itchy feet, wanderlust.
So in April 2017 we left again. We’re travelled East Coast Australia and hopefully, will cover a lot of Asia, this year.
I’ll be documenting our adventures on here, along with how I manage my mental illnesses on the road and how we keep united as a couple.
